SOP-HR-002: Remote Employee Onboarding
Document owner: People Operations
Version: 1.0
Purpose
Onboard remote employees with the same clarity as in-office hires, including equipment, access, and connection to the team.
Before start date
- Ship laptop and peripherals with tracking confirmation.
- Send a day-one agenda and timezone-aware meeting invites.
- Provision accounts and MFA instructions.
Day one
- Complete IT setup call and verify video, chat, and password manager access.
- Review communication norms: response expectations, meeting etiquette, and documentation home.
- Introduce the buddy and schedule three check-ins in week one.
First week
- Complete security and compliance modules.
- Join core team rituals (standup, weekly planning, demo).
- Deliver one starter task with written feedback from the manager.
Escalation
If equipment has not arrived by the morning of day one, People Ops provides a temporary access plan within two hours and reschedules hardware-dependent training.
